Dear Friends,

As I was searching for poems about this wonderfully gentle spring month, the month that, in the Northern hemisphere, we at last know that spring is here in earnest, I discovered poems about renewal and poems that seem resigned to the ongoingness, reluctant, perhaps, to hope.

Both moods need to be highlighted, I think. Maybe you yourself aren’t feeling quite remade or convinced by the season. And yet, each poem promises that “sudden growth” Ezra Pound believed reading can offer, that “sense of sudden liberation; that sense of freedom from time limits and space limits; that sense of sudden growth, which we experience in the presence of the greatest works of art.”

I hope that you enjoy these poems. As ever, please let me know your favorite lines below.
